This was so fun to read as a norwegian. So many things get done without thinking about it, and this piece made me a bit more cognisant of it - I can have a lot more fun during these months! And it seems like you’re really getting the hang of it, with a lot of really cute outfits. I’m feeling inspired!

Thank you so much! That’s really lovely to hear. I remember being very surprised when I told the most stylish woman in my office that I was trying to figure out my winter style and she said, “we don’t have one, we just stay warm” … I feel like it’s very normal here to bundle up and get through winter by focusing on functionality and cozy home clothes haha but I’m so glad you are feeling inspired!!

Oh yeah, for sure! I struggle a lot with finding the balance between warm and stylish, and sometimes it’s just too cold to care! But I think you’ve definitely found something with all the layers. I like the thought of a base layer having a pop of colour that just shows a little. Such a great way to keep it fun and warm!

You did it again! You made me laugh out loud and also taught me a few things about living in cold country. I love your writing and am so damn proud of you!

Signed,

Your Mama who walked on the beach yesterday in 72 degree weather

I loved to read about your adaptation process, can imagine how shocking these Nordic temps have to be to Californian lass! I also love your visuals illustrating your solutions. And what a breeze of fresh air for all Norwegians who think: "we don't have (winter style) one, we just stay warm". You became an unexpected pioneer of winter style in Oslo! Well done!

hope they're of some use to you Annie! I did a deep clean of my closet last year and found myself so bored by all of the basic sweaters I had, most of them bought because they were a good thrift find. Now that I have fewer and nicer options, they actually make me really happy to wear and were still all second hand!

Secondhand is truly the only way to buy sweaters. They were just made better!! I need to do a clean out myself.
